Cédric Ragot

The MiniMASTERPIECE gallery will be presenting, from Friday September 18th to Saturday, November 14th, a dozen pieces of jewellery in silver and solid gold created by designer Cédric Ragot in 2013 and 2015.
Like his porcelain vase Fast, whose contours are as if frozen by sudden acceleration, Cédric Ragot will shine like a shooting star in the sky of French design.
At once inventive, perfectionist and a gentle dreamer, he died last March at the age of 42.
Having graduated in 1999 from ENSCI, the French national school for advanced studies in design, Cédric Ragot opened his design studio in 2002 (DESIGN STUDIO – V2.0) after earning his stripes with Christian Ghion.
Deliberately eclectic, he committed himself to a variety of activities – from cosmetics to consumer electronics, tableware to sports equipment, furniture to domestic appliances.
He brought an interdisciplinary vision to the practice of industrial design and those he worked on projects with include Cappellini, Rosenthal, Panasonic, Roche Bobois, Alcatel, Swarovski, LVMH, Schott, Paco Rabanne, Krups, Lacie, Azzaro and Häagen-Dazs, among others.
For MiniMASTERPIECE gallery, he had been creating jewellery since 2013.
First there was the “Geometry” line (shown above) – in collaboration with Bernard Chauveau, Publisher, in silver, platinum and pink gold, and he said in November 2013 :
“Rather than ornamentation, I preferred confrontation. The ‘Geometry’ jewellery opposes the power of metal in the mass to the fragility of the skin. To sublimate the complex plasticity of the body, I put it in the presence of the abstraction of elementary volumes, at first sight without any ergonomic aspect, almost quite the opposite. I created jewellery as rigorous signs, playing on our anatomy to reveal subtlety.”
Then, in late 2014 / early 2015, he created a more complete set of a dozen silver and solid gold pieces, entitled “Liquid Silver” and “Cage”. These are his new creations to be unveiled at the MiniMASTERPIECE gallery from 18 September to 14 November 2015.
A retrospective and a tribute to his memory.
