Andres Serrano
Born in New York in 1950, Andres Serrano is a photographer of international renown primarily known for his portraits and bodily images.
Raised in a strict catholic household of afrocuban origins, his work highlights social problems and addresses questions linked to sex and religion
Certain of his works have elicited strong negative reactions, particularly among Catholics and conservative.
For instance, the photograph Piss Christ in 1989 has inspired violent reactions in America and in others countries where is has been exhibited.
The gold piece Crucifix ring made in Paris in 2015 represents for the artist, through the cross, the undercover object found in any flea market, which is actually also an instrument of hate.
In 2025, a new version was produced in polished and partially blackened 925 silver. This second, darker version adds further strength to this sultry object.
