Yiyan Zhou

Zhou Yiyan studied art and design at Shanghai Normal University in her hometown and fashion design at Studio Berçot in Paris.
She has lived and worked in Paris since 2007.
In 2016, she won the Young Designer Award from Ateliers d'Art de France.
Zhou Yiyan works with materials to bring opposites together. Combining porcelain and bronze, she uses contrasting surfaces—smooth, rough, shiny, or matte—to create unions that are as impossible as they are harmonious.

Conceived as sculptures, her works combine the delicacy and fragility of porcelain with the raw strength of metal, creating reflections that are both warm and cold under the light.

The forms, constructed, deconstructed, and linked in complex interlacing patterns, feed into the fertile richness of the pairings.
Zhou Yiyan's work expresses the possibility of a reconciled alliance between our differences, a metaphor for human relationships as a renewed source of strength and beauty.
Zhou Yiyan has been collaborating with the MiniMasterpiece gallery since 2017.
