Giorgio Vigna

Born in Verona in 1955, Giorgio Vigna received his artistic training in his hometown, Venice, Rome, and Milan.
His work evokes the interplay of earth and water, fire and wind, blending the natural and the artificial, the humble and the precious. Vigna operates at the boundary between the real and the imaginary, between what is and what appears to be.
His works—whether sculptures, jewelry, works on paper, or site-specific installations—reflect the breadth and depth of his ongoing exploration.
He uses a variety of materials, including glass, metals, and paper, treated in ever-new and surprising ways. The forms are primary, an expression of the elements with which he works.

In 2003, Giorgio Vigna created the site-specific installation La Radura for Nancy Olnick and Giorgio Spanu, which marked the beginning of the Olnick Spanu art program. In 2013, the Castelvecchio Museum in Verona hosted the exhibition Stati Naturali, for which Giorgio Vigna created the permanent glass installation Acquaria for Carlo Scarpa’s fountain; this work was donated to the City of Verona in 2021 on the occasion of the exhibition Lapilli at the Sculpture Gallery, marking the centenary of Licisco Magagnato’s birth.
In 2017, he created the work Fuochi di Rugiada for the Galleria dell’Accademia in Venice, produced by Vetreria VENINI.
In 2018, he was invited to join the scientific committee of Le Stanze del Vetro, a project of the Giorgio Cini Foundation with the support of the Pentagram Stiftung. In 2022, he donated his archive of thirty years of drawings and sketches related to his work with glass to the Giorgio Cini Foundation.
In June 2023, he opened the solo exhibition Analogie at the Eremitani Museum in Padua,
a natural continuation of the journey begun in 2022 with the exhibition Sassi at the Oratory of San Rocco in Padua.
Most recently, the installation Sguardo was exhibited in the Giotto Room of the Eremitani Museum in Padua, placed at the foot of Giotto di Bondone’s Cross.

His work has been exhibited in major galleries and museums in Argentina, Austria, China, Korea, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hong Kong, Italy, the Netherlands, the Principality of Monaco, Russia, the United States, and Switzerland.
